REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

NOTICE:

When disconnecting the cable, some system need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected INTRODUCTION: REPAIR INSTRUCTION: INITIALIZATION (2008 Sequoia)

2. REMOVE TIMING BELT

(a) Remove the timing belt 2UZ-FE ENGINE MECHANICAL: TIMING BELT: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia) .

3. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT TIMING PULLEY

(a) Using SST, remove the timing pulley.

NOTICE:

Do not turn the timing pulley.

4. REMOVE FRONT CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL

(a) Using a knife, cut off the lip of the oil seal.

(b) Using a screwdriver, pry out the oil seal.

NOTICE:

Do not damage the surface of the oil seal press fit hole and crankshaft.

HINT:

Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
